Web cam
I support the need yes need for a web cam in Sidmouth. The seafront is the most obvious place to mount one but I would love to volunteer my B&B a few 100 yards back from the seafront. One side of my property looks over coburg road and although this is a small road there seems to be loads of people walking down it. Maybe we need two webcams!!

This gets my vote. A web cam view out to sea would be really useful to be able to judge surf conditions.

The most interesting idea of a Sidmouth webcam is selecting the location for it.
If it is possible I would like to see it pointing along the esplanade looking east. Away from the Westerly wind and rain. But I can't think where it could be placed to give a good active view. The gardens are too far away. Also the camera needs to be placed with it's back to the sun, mainly. Not easy. It would be fun to see the festival.

Whats there to not like about a webcam in Sidmouth, great idea. I use Exmouth cam a fair bit as i do St ives cornwall ones. My mum (79) is holidaying at Sidmouth at the moment and thought she could give me a wave every day, that would be nice.

Sidmouth Webcam
Hi there,
My wife emailed on Saturday to say what an excellent idea the webcam would be (provided we can see the surfable areas), please add my support to this. If you were looking to engage support from the surfing community for the cam may I suggest that you get in touch with or have a look at www.magicseaweed.com to see the kind of thing that is in other places, as you will appreciate when deciding on where to go for a surf live images of the waves are invaluable in order to cut down journey times and therefore fuel consumption and traffic jams. It would also be worth you getting in touch with magazines like Wavelength and Carve, these are both South West based and I imagine would be delighted to run a couple of lines asking for support. I am passing word of mouth around to the people with whom I surf so hopefully they will vocalise their support as well.
All the best

Sidmouth Webcam
What an excellent idea, would it please be possible to locate it so that it is possible to see the surfable areas? I am dying to get in for a surf at Sidmouth, as it is a lot more local than North Devon but as there is no way of seeing the conditions prior to arriving had not managed to get there on a good day!
Hope to see the webcam soon
